Agree completely. But a conundrum exists. Depending on the age of the politician when leaving Parliament they probably would not be able to access their superannuation so would need to get a job. Maybe a limit needs to be put on what kind of employment they can get into. How would this be policed? At the moment it sure is a bonanza. What also gives me the tom tits is the number of retired/retiring ALP politicians that when out of office go completely against the party line. Ergo the party line (and their sinecure) is far more important to them that the well being of their constituents.

Ban parties? I actually don't know what the result of this would be though. I feel like in practice it would still informally exist and just get shoved behind closed doors. But that's an interesting discussion to speculate on how banning parties would play out.
