Now that two more people from the 2014 production have contacted police about McLachlan, the timeline of this is making the motives of the accusers clear. They didn't want the 2018 cast to go through what they had to go through.
With the new Rocky Horror tour announced, the women confidentially contacted the Gordon Frost Organisation and asked for an investigation and some clear guidelines for behaviour established for the new production. Instead, they got threatened with defamation. Not having millions for lawyers, their only option was the media, who did have millions for lawyers.
Then McLachlan responded to their accusations by saying they're liars and defaming them. Immediately two people come forward and contact the police to confirm that the women aren't liars.
None of this was meant to go public. No one wanted to go to the police. They just wanted it sorted, and know their colleagues were safe. The actions of the Gordon Frost Organisation and McLachlan himself have made this headlines, so it's a bit late for him to play the victim.
