    I did not say never to change directions. I very often switch from long to short and vice versa.

    In fact a long position being stopped out (as per your example which is a good one) should immediately be followed by a new position (going short).

    By allowing your stop loss to be triggered, you are actually saying either 1. I am not sure and I better not risk anymore, or 2. I was wrong to have gone long.

    If its 1., then why allow the stop loss to be triggered and lose the commission. you are not sure right gee my initial long position could be still good ? so just sit tight.

    If option is 2, then create a new position - a short position, since you are sure.

    If someone does not have the balls to do that then why trade....best money management is not to trade.
