I forgot re health and general local services. If the bogan, mine working men require groceries or maybe medical care, then the other locals may be impacted (need to wait in line in the local IGA or not be able to rock up to the local GP unannounced)
I did not read Regis response, but I can guess... if Regis say they will employ another doctor, even on site, the locals would be offended that Regis are segregating from the local community and the locals will feel offended. Similary, if Regis run their own IGA, then locals will be offended at the competition.
When Regis was pressed about keeping the historical 'look and feel' to the area, Regis noted the long ago look and feel has already been changed a lot by, for example, local farmers. I am sure that comment went down like a lead ballon. Locals are very much 'do what we want (but we really dont know what we want, so read our minds' vs 'dont worry about what we have done in the past'
I suspect the project will be approved, but with so many provisos, that at any time for any reason the locals can demand some money or demand the project stops.
