Europe's only NdFeB magnet manufacturer Vacuumschmelze will have to build capacity by plenty, and quickly, to meet the published EV plans of Europe's automakers. That's very unlikely IMHO, and in any event they're very unlikely to be able to compete with Chinese magnet companies.
The Europeans will continue to be supplied by the best of the Chinese. Even if the Japanese up their NdFeB capacity and commence exporting, which they are rumoured to be contemplating, they'll struggle to compete.
This is why I like ARU's NdPr offtake engagement with Jingci and Tianhe.
