Yes, many were very hostile to Thatcher's autocratic style and neoconservative policies ---- less discomfort but still resistance to Reagan's policies though perhaps because he was less autocratic? Yet both remained in power..... Thatcher from 1979 to 1990! Howard just as long, though Howard was much more politically canny. --- knew when to back off. though he made great use of asylum seekers and immigrants.

IMO none of these dictators, such as Stalin or even Mao, were even communist although they supported the economic function --- they were more interested in the total power and its this, imo, that caused the failure. I used to think it was because they kept the system running on money. ;-).
