The reason some of the ‘50 million’ refugees invade us is partly due to our conduct I think. We invaded their countries and created the instability you see there today. We decided they had weapons of mass destruction and now we have to deal with the consequences of those actions. We failed to call out our allies when they invaded nations such as Libya. Such militaristic gallivanting has consequences and one such consequence is the flooding of refugees. That we now think we need to have drastic draconian measures to protect ourselves from the refugees we have created is an absurd argument. But when you couple that with what we’ve done in the past to native Australians, it adds up to one narrative. We aren’t the angels we want to make ourselves look like. Pointing fingers at China’s actions on its Uighurs doesn’t make us look any better either. We aren’t any better no.
