Aussie tech company's bid to take over power station site closing soon
A Melbourne-born tech company is eyeing off the soon to close Yallourn Power Station as its new home.
Environmental Clean Technologies Limited, along with a consortium of businesses, wants to purchase the land and the mining rights at Yallourn when it retires in 2028.
The power station in the Latrobe Valley supplies up to 22 per cent of Victoria's energy and eight per cent of Australia's electricity. It will be replaced with a battery by 2026.
