Below is an example of the medias/decision making ministers naive understanding:
Throughout this article, there is zero mension of coal drying - but it mensions just about all other clean coal techs.
"Mr Sriprakash Jaiswal Indian minister of state for coal has called for concerted efforts on need of adopting clean coal technologies including coal gasification and coal liquefaction for long term sustainability of the coal sector as well as reducing the green house gases....
He said coal sector must adopt best practices and state-of-the-art technologies for improving production, productivity and safety to be competitive in the market...
There is urgent need for adoption of clean coal technologies including coal washing, coal bed methane, coal mine methane, underground coal gasification and coal liquefaction as these are also important in improving the coal usage in an environment-friendly manner...
He also emphasized a need for large coal consumers like the power sector to adopt technologies for improving the efficiency of energy utilization from coal in order to reduce emission levels of green house gases."
______________
Zero mension of coal drying (again), which is the logical initial step. Coldry can reduce emissions by 40-50% - most of the emissions reduction needed is accomplished in one swoop by a proven tech...or is it proven??
Thats the key imo - the media etc dont yet appreciate Coldry as a proven tech/solution...they should read HC!
Anyway - ECT have, it seems, 6-7 solid prospects in India. Since 85% of Indias coal is controlled by the state (Coal India) - its fair to say ECT will end up with govt backing for its India projects - China will be similar - dealing with the state. Instos will like that stable backing (both the Poland/Tincom deals are also essentially govt backed).
Something to ponder - WEC are a proven drying tech in Indo. How come ECT say Coldry is the first?
