I agree... short term solutions are never conducive. Short term pain, long term gain as the adage goes.
The knock on effect to copper price is an interesting one to speculate on - will introducing the tax increase copper price even further seeing as Chile produces ~25-30% of the worlds supply? If a high tax rate deters investment then companies may start looking else where but that may exacerbate the copper supply shortage...
