My understanding was that Stag commenced production in 1997 and was due to produce for 7 years ie 2004. It has produced for another 12 years. It is now at or approaching the end of field life.
The big risk is one of cost overrun on abandonment. Also being in shallow water there will be issues of removal of wellheads. The removal of the top sides should be easy given its design.
There is also an issue of recovery of PRRT on abandonment. I am not certain of the implications on sale. Does the buyer stand in the shoes of the seller?
Now is the time to sell. The $/ bbl is not important at this stage of the cycle.
