Thanks for this article ,,,and overall , the excellent contributions made by yourself and Normandy thoughout 2023 , in trying to keep the Syrah Forum informed and up to date with information .
Its been a very frustrating year for investors , and no doubt Shaun Verner /Board and Management will attest to that as well . We can only hope/expect that we are closer to some Vidalia Plant and Offtake successes ...and importantly , the "recognition " that Vidalia is the only source of completed natural spherical graphite anode outside China . As China tightens the screws on both Battery and Rare earths material and technology outside its own domestic ( and maybe Russian ) usage , the more the Battery and Vehicle manufacturers outside of China , are facing a real "squueze play "in supply and demand .,,,with greater inclusion of synethic graphite the only possible fallback , and that creates a huge problem on a number of fronts !
This current month of December 2023---carries many implications for SYR .....not only on the progress/completion/start up of the Vidalia Plant .
I look back on my notes for the Year ..and see from the Announcement of the 27th April 2023 ..headed "Robust DFS Results for Vidalia 45k tpa AAM Facility , the following :
Syrah considers the DFS to be positive and offers the requisite technical and economic outcomes to warrant progression
of the Vidalia Further Expansion project. Accordingly, the Company is proceeding with transition detailed and long-lead
items engineering with Worley, permitting, acquisition of adjacent land and other early activities to maintain project
momentum ahead of a potential final investment decision (“FID”) proposal on the Vidalia Further Expansion project to be
considered by the Syrah Board by no later than December 2023 and as soon as customer and financing commitments can
be finalised. Full detailed engineering, long-lead items and other procurement, and construction activities will follow a FID
on the Vidalia Further Expansion project sequentially, subject to Syrah Board approval and customer and financing
commitments .
I certainly don't keep track of updated advice on this subject , anywhere near as close as you do ...but I can only conclude that the Syrah Board comment on this , comes with , or`is a direct knock on effect ..from advice on the Plant completion ( stage 1 ) , the advice from the DOE on re-arranged /advanced Funding ...and that DOE advice is probably being fine /tuned /adjucted /tweaked ,,as a result of this current IRA "examination and clarification " , of what tax credits go with /to whom vehicle manufactures in the USA and the scourcing of the vehicle /vehicle battery materials .
You have probably addressed this many times and in many ways before ...but hopefully , we get some direct advice from Shaun Verner and the Board , quite early in the New Year ( January 2024 ) , on what is now the Status Quo !
The DOE has recently made a number of very public statements on what a GREAT YEAR OF ACHIEVEMENTS it has been for the Biden Government in advancing the Technology Revolution !!!! It really does need a CENTREPOINT FACILITY like Syrah's Vidalia ..to be able to demonstrate that ACTIONS/DEEDS like this Plant ..speak much , much louder`than words .
Hopefully Proga and Normandy ...you get some quality family time and enjoy a Happy and Healthy Christmas ..and in a few days time , brings some new optismism for a much more prosperous 2024 New Year .
