"#Orthocell is set to host its annual Nerve Transfer and Reconstruction Symposium, "Redefining Nerve Repair Strategies: From Basic Science to Clinical Practice", at Macquarie University in Sydney next week. We are proud to announce that Dr. Tom Quick, who is a consultant peripheral nerve surgeon from the United Kingdom, will be our keynote speaker for the event.

Building on the success of last year's inaugural event, this year’s Symposium brings together globally recognised leaders in the field of peripheral nerve repair and is a valuable opportunity for collaboration and knowledge exchange between different surgical specialities (namely orthopaedic and plastic and reconstructive surgeons).

Orthocell is pleased to welcome the following distinguished experts, who will headline the Plenary Program:

Prof. MingHao Zheng - Academic pathologist and co-founder of Orthocell
Dr. Alex O'Beirne - Esteemed orthopaedic surgeon specialising in complex nerve reconstruction procedures.
Dr. Natasha van Zyl - Melbourne-based plastic and reconstructive surgeon experienced in upper limb re-animation through nerve and tendon transfer surgery
Dr. Tom Quick - Distinguished consultant peripheral nerve surgeon from the UK, bringing international perspectives to the Symposium.
Dr. Michael Wagels - Specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon from the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane

One of the most anticipated aspects of the symposium is the Surgical Skills Training - Cadaveric Workshop. This hands-on session will provide attendees with the unique opportunity to observe and learn advanced nerve transfer techniques using Orthocell's innovative Remplir™ nerve device. Remplir™ is a collagen-based nerve repair device designed to address the challenges associated with traditional nerve suturing techniques. It enables suture reduction, compression-free protection and creates an ideal microenvironment for nerve regeneration.

Orthocell's commitment to advancing the field of nerve repair was evident at last year's successful symposium in Western Australia. The event facilitated valuable connections with leading researchers and clinicians, including international collaborators from Washington University in the USA. This year's symposium in Sydney aims to build on this momentum, fostering further collaboration and knowledge exchange within the surgical community."
