Yes, it's something I've never understood. If I was diagnosed with a terminal illness ... I sure would want to have the option to volunteer for a new drug that just might cure me. Even if it doesn't, my death would still have been of some use thanks to what the scientists will have learned from it. Better that than dying while waiting for FDA approval!
