Hi Gajet,
As an English woman I can say that The Royal Family are so much a part of our lives.
They were always there and we shared the joys and sadness of watching the generations grow with us.
As a young girl, I met The Queen Mother, I was a brownie of honour when she visited our group.
The Queen visited the town where I lived as a child.
The traditions and continuity are important to most British people.
We shared the celebrations with them.
So yes I personally have great affection for them.
Although they live a privileged lifestyle, they are really public property.
As we have seen with the pressure that poor Princess Kate has been under, by the scum press.
I feel quite heartbroken.
