What I personally find so compelling is your comment on Prof Fong's 25 to 30 year quest to re-engineer CF 33. To reflect on a career to date with such a commitment is quite simply amazing. And he is not finished as his contribution continues personally through his work, but more so through the amazing doctors he has trained and the team he has created at the CoH and inspired at so many medical institutions.
People who are committed to human health research have a true vocation and must be celebrated.
Someone such as Prof Fong acts like a rock who is plunged into a pool with the ripples of effect cascading out ad infinitum.
What will be wonderful is that he will see the results in his lifetime and that his applications will form the basis for treatments for so many illnesse forever. Now that is called a legacy.
