It takes special people to turn up to an AGM, look at the shareholders who have seen the value of the company fall by 65% and ask for performance rewards and not feel embarrassed, shame or guilt. It seems it's standard across the board that CEOs and directors are exempt from normal performance assessments before being rewarded. I just don't know of any other employee group who can do that. I doubt they apply the same standard to their subordinates.

In my place of work, people don't get extra rewards for just doing their job. Pay increases and bonuses are for performance above and beyond.
