They don't seem to be related if you look at the virus being used: "modified herpes simplex 1 virus" vs "chimeric vaccinia (pox) virus", but that doesn't necessary mean the technology/technique can't be carried over to our virus. Perhaps it's cheaper and easier to get a hold of the herpes virus to do these very early stage preclinical work.
I too thought Dr. Michael Caligiuri was still part of our SAB, but after doing a search on IMU's website and recent investor presentations, he seems to be gone.
