Closed-loop ideas have been around for a long time and there are no operating plants that I know of. The concept is attractive (like high speed trains in Australia) but it fails on technical detail (need for high efficiency down-hole insulation to separate the cold and hot flows) and profitability ( high RnD costs plus high pump costs plus low flow rate = long time to profit if at all, IMHO)
To answer another question I just noticed elsewhere I'd rather see GRV move to traditional geothermal off the Qld coast, or build a giant solar/battery farm next to their main project, than get involved in yet another closed-loop RnD plan.
