This opinion piece by Helen Zille, Premier of the Western Cape is worth a read.  It should serve as some insight into the politics inside water management, as well as serve a warning towards other regions affected by drought.

It has now shifted to not if, but when Cape Town will run out of water.  Water usage has been higher than forecast and the date of "Day Zero" keeps being adjusted to occur faster.

Most of the supplementary desalination projects and other water schemes are running behind schedule to compound the issue.

If "Day Zero" occurs in April, and if 5000 people are each day forced to queue at each collection point for water, and drive their vehicles to that collection point, this will cause severe social unrest.

An event like this would put water management into the focus of every city in the world.  By 2025, it is forecast that 2/3 of the world's population could be facing water scarcity.  In 7 years, 5 billion people worldwide could be facing water scarcity.  This will require trillions of dollars in investment to manage.  Fluence will continue to be relevant and have opportunities to sell their solutions.
