You are right n1, I have seen a few those academic papers floating around the internet, but I don't think we need to worry when Fluence already had CMABR solutions up running and the water quality tested which it has consistently been met 1A standard in China, it is important for Fluence to be the ahead of this game as they now have regulatory tailwinds they will need convert the technology into sales. I remember Eytan Levy said it takes 15 years for a water technology company to be matured, so I guess it is one of main reasons we don't see many Chinese wastewater treatment/desalination water companies winning any contract in the rest of world beside China? The water technology is quite sophisticated and generally very hard to copy.
Fluence knows they cannot rely on certain partners and so they did a roadshow to have more partnerships, small to medium size companies generally move faster than traditional SOE companies, because the big company normally have its own research institute centre and would require more time to do the case studies, and I do think the barrier would be big SOE will ask some sort of technology transfers/JV as part of deal(I am fine if they commit to buy 20,000 units every year
).
They are now hiring salesperson in Guizhou and Wuhan city on top of Changsha and Chengdu city that I mention earlier, in the job requirement it clearly said they would prefer someone has connections with local government, water companies or municipal research institute. The ultimate goal for Fluence is they need to sign as many partnerships as they can, when everyone is talking about MABR technology in the industry I am sure this will convert into massive revenue growth, because we all know decentralized and cost effective wastewater treatment solution is the trend in the coming future.
