ArcelorMittal Brasil awarded at the International Desalination Association (IDA) World Congress Dubai.

The "Innovative Project" award is due to the acquisition of a seawater desalination plant commissioned to be the largest in Fluence Corporation Brazil.

ArcelorMittal conducted studies to implement the project and included the best technologies and suppliers in the world. In the assessment of risks, costs and operational aspects, two desalination plants from Fluence Argentina were taken as a reference.

One was installed in Puerto Deseado and provides water supply for public networks, and the other is being launched in Caleta Olivia.

The process of the plant to be opened in Brazil consists of the intake of seawater and its treatment through the reverse osmosis process, a technology that is already established and applied in countries such as Israel, Spain, Australia, Argentina and the United States.

The plant, which cost USD 10 million, will be installed near the company's Thermoelectric Power Plant and will occupy about 6,000 m2.

Its initial capacity will be 500 m3/hour (12,000 m3/day) and can be expanded in the future. #desalinización
