Unfortunately for us, at the moment we have zero actual data on this product (Fluence Nitro), what technical process they are using to treat the supernatant, what market exactly they are targeting, pricing, ideal sizing for feed streams, what kind of plants they want to deal with and which countries they are going for.

I don't doubt for one second that anammox is the market leader, but though their R&D and discussions with partners and distributors, Fluence may have identified a particular niche where they can offer a MABR based solution, whether that is in conjunction with or in competition with anammox.

Fluence do some R&D at the Israeli national water company Mekerot WWTP.

They also have Energy System Group as an R&D partner, they have distributors like Aquatec Maxcon in Australia that sell the Paques Anammox solution (https://www.aquatecmaxcon.com.au/technologies/industrial-processes/anammox), and the Fluence Italy business unit has also completed many small scale biogas plants. Between these and some other partners, you would think they have been able to get enough quality input to form a proper business case for releasing a commercial product.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. I am hopeful that Fluence has found another way to get plants that need additional nitrogen removal to install treatment. Fluence don't need to become the market leader in side-stream treatment, they just need to provide a compelling enough use case to be installed at a few sites. Time will tell. Please stop by more often and share your thoughts, whether on this or anything else MABR related, the more data the better!
