Just a recap from memory, in 2019, 5 options were presented, MABR + AS + UF was the highest in capex, but it makes up for a superior effluent quality and the lowest opex. The difference in opex against other options pays back the difference in capex within a few years. The cost for the 250m3/d plant was estimated to be whopping $10.8m.

At the federal budget this year, $1.8m was granted by the Australian government for the purpose of this project, however, at the council meeting a few months ago, another consultant will be engaged to oversee the procurement and tendering process. I am not sure how much of this grant will be spent before earthwork could even start.

As for the cost, the MABR + AS + UF + other ancillaries was estimated to be $4.2m. Comparing that to what we are charging in the Chinese projects at roughly $100k - $200k for about an Aspiral M unit which is capable to treat about 120m3/d of rural wastewater. So I am quite puzzled with the discrepancies in the equipment price, even with all the AS and UF and ancillaries included. I just have to put it to local cost, local culture and local ways of business.

With Norfolk Island as an example of slowness, I am glad that in Cambodia, 2 units of Aspirals were already sold into Ream City when the development there is just starting.

Now that we have started boosting our sales team in the USA, I am hoping to have some concrete news of sales from Q2 2023.
