After a drought of news from Mainland China, it is quite pleasant to see news of a project involving us. This time in Hebei Province where Beijing and Tianjin are located in close proximity. This would be the largest MABR upgrade of WWTP. It is even larger than the 20,000 CMD at PS3.

In March 2022, we won an upgrading contract in Anhui province involving 24 SUBRE towers to increase the WWTP plant capacity from 125,000 to 167,000 people. Hopefully, this is a green shoot for more of these upgrades coming our way.

A note in our 15/3/22 announcement:
"Based on China government information, the current 5 Year Plan targets adding wastewater treatment capacity including plant upgrades serving 160 million people with approximately 75% of this targeting upgraded and expanded treatment to enable reuse and therefore requiring Class 1A treatment. Reuse targets vary from 25% to 35% of treated wastewater to alleviate water stress. The Plan also emphasizes energy saving, low carbon processes for which MABR is ideal.

Based on this data Fluence estimates approximately 1,600 centralized wastewater treatment plants need to be upgraded throughout China."

Fluence helps Shexian Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade to green development, with the first phase of 25,000 tons of MABR process installed

Recently, Fluence actively provided advanced sewage treatment equipment and technical support for the upgrading and expansion project of Jingyuan Wastewater Treatment Plant in She County, Hebei Province. Through the active cooperation of local distributors and project contractors, this project has been smoothly promoted. As one of the important environmental protection facilities in She County, it is also one of Fluence's largest on-site expansion and upgrading cases to date. After the project is completed, the daily treatment capacity of the sewage treatment plant will reach 25,000 tons, and the effluent water quality will be improved to Class IV surface water standards, providing strong support for local sustainable development.

In this project, the transformation of the CASS pool is a key part of the project. Considering the shortage of land in the original plant area and the higher requirements for COD , BOD , nitrogen and phosphorus after the upgrade, the project improves the treatment effect of the biochemical system by optimizing and transforming the CASS pool without increasing the original pool capacity. Fluence applies its advanced MABR technology to the biochemical pool to enhance the denitrification and phosphorus removal effects, ensuring efficient use of resources and optimizing the treatment effect.

In order to implement the relevant provisions of the "Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan" and the "Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant Pollutant Emission Standard" Level A , various parts of the country have accelerated the pace of upgrading and expanding sewage treatment plants, and through technological upgrades, achieved higher standards of water quality emissions and protected water resources and the ecological environment.
