The DuPont system is an Ultra Filtration system, not a Reverse Osmosis desalination system. So they are not actually competing with Nirobox as such. These UF systems are a safeguard against lower quality "fresh" water coming into existing systems, rather than using seawater a new source of water.
I also would not exactly say that companies like DuPont/Dow that actually manufacture UF and RO membranes and systems are "cutting out lunch."
Dow have been manufacturing RO units since 1977. Fluence Israel/Nirosoft are a systems integrator that buy in RO/UF units from other manufacturers for their Nirobox containers. If anything we are cutting their lunch.
There is plenty of opportunity in the water space for everyone. For their company size and amount of marketing dollars available, Fluence are hitting above their weight across multiple areas in the water treatment space.
