Well, on the positive side, only 13 tests have been approved for home use by the FDA. Access Bio / Carestart which is the one sponsored by Atomo, and is one of them.
There are 38 COVID tests that were rejected by the FDA and around 15-20 antigen tests.
Australian TGA is notoriously slow.

I have a concern that’s not quite related to any of this.

In studies it has been shown people prefer saliva HIV tests to blood based ones.
Also that Saliva can be almost just as accurate as blood.
The only situation where gay men prefer blood based tests is when it screens for more than one type of disease.
I know Atomo are working on some saliva tests but I hope its for HIV because I can see a time when they will get out-sold in the Australian market and other developed markets by saliva HIV tests.
Most people here have enough money and prefer to go to the doctor.
For now they are the only product in Australia. But I can see that changing quickly.
