To the contrary, EPS growth means a massive amount to a growth company. Not sure what you mean about it being made up on the spot. The EPS for 1H23 was reported by A2M:
- Basic earnings per share up 24.1% to 10.0 cents compared to 8.0 cents in 1H22.
Although most of the growth in EPS is from increased earnings it gets a helpful further nudge upwards from reducing the number of shares on issue. Don't ask me to quantify it but I'm sure it can be figured out. It is small but there's a fair chance that the company will just keep running buybacks in future, so it will have an accumulating impact.
There is nothing ambiguous about EPS it is an objective fact. The ambiguity comes in when using it to calculate what is a fair value for the SP as there are very different rules of thumb, models and agendas what people come up with. But growing EPS sustainably year-on-year will inevitably result in an increasing SP in the long term.
