The reason I bring it up is that HotCopper, and the A2M forum in particular, has had a bit of a problem with posters operating multiple accounts, sockpuppeting, using their various identities to boost their posts, etc.
It's not been specific to posters with a negative or positive sentiment either. But one prominent downramper posted on here for years, often dozens of posts daily, before getting banned for running multiple accounts. Also claimed to be some kind of food scientist and had a lot to say about Synlait, before they were exposed.
So given this history, when new accounts pop up and immediately start spreading rumours I am naturally sceptical and see it as only right to caution others.
