Speculation is mounting that the milk nutrition company Synlait may place its most valuable asset on the market in an effort to drive down its debt.Synlait, which makes infant formula and milk powders, is listed in Australia and New Zealand and has a $428m market value, which is less than the $NZ518.6m of net debt it owes to its lenders.Its state-of-the-art processing plant in Dunsandel, Canterbury, New Zealand could sell for between $NZ400m and $NZ500m if it is placed up for sale, say sources.
