@Cotton101 My experience was similar as the poster above I think, as our baby needed formula for a little bit and was given either NAN or S-26. It's a bit different to being given a branded gift package like you were - that strikes me as being pretty against the guidelines.
My theory is that the hospitals use the cheapest formulas a) because they think they are much the same as the more expensive ones, nutritionally speaking; and b) so that cost is less of a barrier to parents continuing on the formula after leaving the hospital. I am guessing hospitals might rejection donations from A2M and other formula brands for this reason but that is just my guess.
