If you buy today (February 28, 2025) but sell before March 20, 2025 (Ex-Date), you won’t be on the list when they check who gets paid.To receive the dividend, you must:1. Buy before the Ex-Date (March 20, 2025).2. Hold through the Record Date (March 21, 2025).3. Then, you can sell on or after March 22, 2025, and still get paid on April 4, 2025.
And you’d buy earlier before others also buying in who would push up the price. But that 1% point made earlier makes sense. So I’m past the divi catch theory being much of a driving force.
