Thanks for the additional info. Funnily enough although I don't use X much, I saw your 'priadr' account the other day when I randomly searched for a2 milk related posts on there. It seems you're seeing a lot of the content these sellers are posing every day so would be able to get a pretty good read on where this document sits in the context of all that. Personally I think it is probably legit but still needs to be treated as an unverified source.

Regardless it's interesting to get a bit of a glimpse behind the curtain to their operations in China, you do get the sense that management has a very strong influence on all levels of the supply chain and visibility over what is happening - in order to detect things like improper pricing practices etc.

To put in perspective, there would be ~30k physical stores or points of sale for A2 products in China. Perhaps they do random checks of 5-10% of these, that is still 1.5-3k stores they need to check (and it seems these would need to be independently checked, rather than by the distribution partners for those regions). The logistics of it all is mind boggling.

I had a different take on what you were describing as "collective punishment" as I don't think that's what is happening here, or at least there is some nuance to the punishment.

On one level it is saying there is a national quote due to demand outpacing supply. That's more interesting to us because of what it might say about overall sales.

Then, due to detection of improper pricing of stores in the region, the region's distributor has had its quota further reduced. This seems reasonable if it was the job of the distributor to ensure stores were setting the correct pricing and they essentially failed at this. It is a way for A2 to encourage the distributor to take ownership of the issue. Presumably, they would do this by passing on the lower quotas to stores with poorer "behavior" while dishing out the higher quotas to the stores with good behavior. But overall the strategy by A2 should encourage operators like Fengbei to better regulate the stores within its network.
