I very doubt that a2 is involved in this in any way. These are unsponsored ADRs which means depository banks don't need any permissions from the company. The good thing is beside Bank Of New York's 50 mil registration couple of days ago, there was another 50 mil registration from Citibank a month ago on september 23 https://sec.report/Document/0001193805-20-001161/ , before that Deutsche Bank registered 10 mil on 3rd of may 2019 https://sec.report/Document/0001144204-19-023560/ This somehow tells me that interest into a2 company from us based investors is (or at least expected to be) growing rapidly otherwise I do not see any reasons for city and bny to register 100 mil shares or 15% of the company. really not good sign for local market manipulators.
