There are many different ways to be short a stock. You can sell borrowed physical shares , sell using CFD 's, buy put options or alternatively write (sell) call options either 'naked' if you dont own the physical shares or write (sell) covered call options if you own the physical shares!!! In all of the above you make money if the shares go down!!!
