Stellantis & Samsung SDI have announced 2nd battery factory to be built Kokomo Indiana, taking their total to 67GWh from the two factories, & using Benchmark anode calculations that equates close to 70ktpa.
Be interested to have an update on this companies MOU with Samsung SDI and qualification programme.
The sheer size & number of gigafactories coming between 2025-30 is grossly outweighing any planned local anode production. So I’m not sure how OEMs will earn full tax credits, or comply with the IRA. As by 2029, 90% of the battery has to be locally, or FTA sourced. Sentiment is down, but feel a squeeze has to come at some point.
