I’m assuming Novonix already anticipated expanding the cathode division beyond Canada as part of the drive for a local (U.S) supply chain.
But I still haven’t figured out how they’d achieve it.
A stand alone smaller CAM facility or paired up with a NAM facility in Tennessee. Possibly a JV with one of the larger manufacturers like LGES in Tennessee (similar to the TAQAT deal where Novonix are financially responsible for the equipment & ip).
What’s important is the DOE have shown their willingness to work with Novonix and adapt/adjust funding to suit their requirements and considering the US government’s priority is securing the supply chain I don’t see many in the position to expand like Novonix so I can see them almost taking an unintentional priority status due to lack of competition.
