Have you ever heard (or read in the comment section) the myth suggesting that EV batteries require replacements every 4-5 years? Here is some hard evidence to dismantle this misconception.Today, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand a modern Lithium-ion cell that has been subjected to a cycle of charging and discharging for over 7 years! Remarkably, this cell has exceeded 20,000 cycles yet still remains in good health. To put this achievement into perspective, if this cell were to be used within an EV battery pack, it would equate to the vehicle covering approximately 8 million kilometers! It's safe to conclude from this that your EV's battery is more likely to outlast the vehicle itself and/or serve as a backup power source for your home or grid, much like a generator, rather than needing a replacement.Thanks to the brilliant Dr. jeff dahn and Dr. Michael Metzger, as well as to my colleagues at NOVONIX, for this visit.
