Nickel, lithium, cobalt, iron, salt, and other elements can be easily categorised based on their purity levels, making them commodities. However, combining them into a cathode active material requires a significant qualification period that could span several years. Investing in a cathode manufacturing plant now entails a lengthy qualification process to determine the effectiveness of the material. And the same can be said about the anode.
