I don't use stop losses anymore because there are bots out there that know more about where you are likely to place your stop loss than you do. These machines feed on human psychology. I just spread the risk around a large basket of stocks. For me psychologically, 50% loss on a speculative stock seems to be when I am likely to bail but I don't always sell after 50% loss either.
