I’d like to see the tariff enforced before the IRA tightens over the coming years. Give companies time to scale anode production in the US & a push away from Chinese anode.
Warn them, & don’t push the date of 25% synthetic graphite tariff back anymore. Overnight, US investment in anode production will soar. - Jigar said “No one on Earth is happy with the way China make synthetic graphite” Well then, it’s up to the US if they’re fair dinkum about weening off Chinese anode, enforce the tariff and give the battery makers a push.

Anode is only 9% cost of the battery and 2% cost overall of an EV. So really, if the cost of the tariff is passed in full onto the consumer, it’s only adding about 1/2 of 1% to the total cost, and that is only until local supply increases, to fill the void. Compare that to interest rates upped by the Fed or our RBA in the last year, & that ain’t bad!
