I don’t know how the second part of the IRA clean vehicle tax credit will play out.

I was reading a report (Wood Mackenzie or Goldman Sachs, can’t remember which) that said there will definitely be auto OEMs that don’t qualify due to not being able to meet the mineral requirements. It singled out lithium, nickel and graphite.

That leaves two options for auto oems.

don’t bother chasing the tax credit

or keep trying to get the tax credit.

given this is a 10 year program I believe they will all keep trying. If companies (inc Tesla)are trying to attain these USA/FTA critical minerals it will force price competition.

The amount this competition affects the price paid I am unsure.

it is entirely feasible Tesla may be a future customer.
