I see VW with more of a link to Anovion through Forge Nano(binding offtake signed Feb23). VW have been invested as a partner in Forge Nano since 2019.
While VWs assembly plant & battery testing is in Chattanooga, there battery manufacturing div, PowerCo is currently building its first North American gigafactory in Ontario. If VW are to buy NVX sg, it would be shipped there. I’m of the opinion there isn’t significance in the Chattanooga location and that is why NVX used VWs plant previously on a slide as an example of shipping distance. I don’t think they would’ve done that if they were entertaining a contract.
I’d be happy to be wrong and see a NVX offtake to VW. VW are going to be a huge manufacturer of EV batteries in the US so multiple offtakes makes perfect sense too. I just have a hunch that we’re further along with Panasonic and others for the Ph2 plant.
