Just a few extra thoughts. I don't think VW own the site earmarked for NVX, its in an area known as the "VW supplier park" though. Plenty of other companies located in that area supply more than just VW.

Re shipping. A small amount of logistics management would ensure no trucks are heading back to the US from Canada empty. For example, anode is freighted to Ontario from Chattanooga, and the same vehicle freights back batteries to Chattanooga (VW), South Carolina (Scout) or another nearby state (Audi etc). Transporting batteries great distances isn't ideal, but I'm sure they could manage and minimise costs.

Worth remembering that VW have stated they might do 2 north american giga factories. Also, Audi and VW still need to figure out where they are going to locate their next vehicle manufacturing plants.

Also worth remembering that VW (PowerCo) Ontario is ramping to 90 gwh/year. So this is a big fish for Novonix to land. That's circa $1.3 billion of annual earnings toward the end of the decade from one contract if they can land it.
