They have for the cathode side but graphite was virtually ignore. I suspect they were all hoping lithium metal would save the day.
But the US have been very slow as well. The critical material side of the IRA was supposed to start in 2023 not 2025. I'm still not sure whether they'll start at 30% as per the original start or 50% which it was supposed to be by 2025.
Come 1Jan 2025, how much ex-China graphite either synthetic or natural is available and how many vehicle can be produced from it? None from NXV or any other budding synthetic anode producer. 6-8kt from POSCO and maybe 5kt from the EU if they can convert some of their industrial production into anodes fast enough. On the natural side, SYR has the only plant outside China who can produce spherical and it will only be 8kt to start and p to 11.25kt sometime in 2025.
