It doesn't matter if (s)he is Chinese, German, Japanese, South African or even Kiwi (maybe it does matter in that case!). What is relevant is use of critical thinking and just common sense re. individual posters. (S)he is the loudest trumpet on the board and often drowns out others with her incessant posting. Obviously, each of us needs to consider the motivation and relevance of each poster--critical thinking--where are they coming from, especially a single poster who seems to account for half the forum's posts! To do so simply is being a responsible participant/reader of HotCopper. So, this isn't a personal attack or a baiting. Simply a shared observation and word of caution. I've seen several examples of Chinese uprampers who are loyal subjects of now lifetime dictator Xi and his cult of personality ("Papa Xi") become uprampers for large shareholders in China--individuals and other entities. Often these uprampers give away who they really are by their extreme loyalty to the Party and its line by basically posting propaganda from China Daily and People's Daily--too much a part of their mindset and belief system to hide. These folks want to push the share price up, like any upramper, and often have more information than the "typical poster". By the way, I also like a higher share price! Readers routinely are swept in by such posters, loving to hear all the favourable comments and become very protective of such a consistent source of carefully selected news and happy feelings.
Here are some excerpts from some of (s)he's recent posts on this CLQ forum:
"Xi's speech is major importance. Lots of emphasis on property rights". (all property in China "belongs" to the Government)
"Xi's speech, if implemented, will attract major capital inflows to China". (Would be fools too--China not about to drop its decades of ignoring rules based international trading--how have drawn in $trillions from unfair trade that now are being used for such things as infrastructure, overseas purchases, and military expansion of a new Chinese Empire which is directly linked to their imperialist Belt and Roads initiative).
"Xi showed real leadership"
"Xi to the rescue"
Referencing China's new SU27 fighter (Chinese are very proud of--they must take a military course the summer before starting college and learn the weaponry) and speculating if will be using Sc and posting, "They already are pretty good"
"Porn job Trump" vrs. "Xi pragmatic leader instead of Trump, a brash violent fist swinger" (also not a Trump lover!)
"On matter of social and economic policy, they must be given credibility, they have earned it. And I say this without ref. or prejudice to any understandable political aspects of their system."
I've studied China and have been there many times over decades and just gotta comment on this last one! Outside of the Chinese Communist Party and perhaps Syria's Assad regime, this statement is "say what" in any context. This is a society in which the news media has been told it must function as a propaganda arm of the Chinese Communist Party, where those speaking out for women's rights are taken into custody, where freedom of expression doesn't exist and the Internet is increasingly censored with even certain words and terms (including "Winnie the Pooh" because he looks too much like Xi--really!) are not permitted, where peasant farmers are taken into extralegal "grey jails" if the gov't thinks their legal petitioning is too threatening to gov' officials, where there is no freedom of religion and where Muslims in the west are forbidden from having too-Islamic names, must use a CCP-approved Koran and are put into virtual gulags and where all urban residents are monitored as to movements by facial recognition technology and AI. You bet, gotta give the Chinese Communist Party credit/recognition for social policies!
Thank goodness posters are free to post anything that doesn't violate HC rules. But perhaps just like "Buyer beware", "Reader beware" is appropriate. I have de-ignored (a word?) the poster so I can read a professional plying her/his trade.
