This is a good video on the current & future Ni shortage in the world. Russia is the world's largest exporter of high grade Ni sulphides, much preferred for EV batteries.
"A cleaner source of Ni is good for the (EV) marketing of their product"( referring to hydro power Ni mines in Canada)
(This shortage will become more severe, if sanctions on Russian Ni exports are introduced. There have been many sanctions on Russia by the EU, USA, Britain, Japan etc. since its brutal Ukraine invasion- but a Ni ban on Russia is conspicuously absent, due to the current, critical shortage of Ni).
The video also explains the inadequacies of N ilaterites- they use c.15-20 times more energy to refine, cf Ni sulphides (BSX has Ni sulphides in Vietnam, & its Corazon interests in Canada).
Currently only c.10% of Ni is used in EV batteries- but this is expected to grow to 50% in future decades, in the EV boom.
