Thanks for that perspective Jeremy, I was reading something which supports this view just last evening. Apparently there is a segment of the population which expresses very strong support for Russia's actions in this war on social media. According to the piece I was reading Russia is, somewhat ridiculously in this particular Ukrainian situation, seen as anti-imperial given their support for Vietnam in the war. France, of course had Vietnam subjugated as part of their empire for some time. Anti-Western therefore qualifies as anti-imperial in some minds. Never mind the empire Russia is seeking to regain by war, which is the very definition of imperial.

Vinfast, I agree, will likely sell into Russia. What that will do to their ambitions in the US and wider Western world I can only guess. Let's hope everything is sorted out before that becomes a potential issue.

However, what I need to research more closely is a reference in something else I read recently regarding the origin of Vingroup. I read that it was founded in Ukraine and they initially sold very popular noodles. That could influence matters. I have no idea if that is correct however as I haven't had time to look into it deeper.
