On the afternoon of February 8, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation received and worked with the General Director of Black Stone Minerals Company - Scott Willamson and leaders of Nickel Mining Company Limited in Ban Phuc assessed the progress and implementation of projects in the province. Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of departments and branches of the province.
"Pho Yen district, Son La province has cooperated with the company to carry out the administrative procedures, mainly related to the field of land investment, and belt clearance planning. Legal documents have now been completed however, there is still some work. Blackstone is noting slow progress according to the plan that Son LaProvince and the company had discussed.
Both are proposing solutions to speed up progress and take care of project-related items such as planning, exploration and evaluation, amount of mineral extraction and processing, and the invited construction-oriented production partners. The conclusion of the work Comrade Secretary proposed the Provincial Party Committee continue to coordinate with the Committee's working group. The People's Committee of Son La Province is to build a specific plan to speed up the progress and implement the project of the working group.
The Personnel Committee of the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee will organize a working visit with the company for a further mining project, continue to carry out the mining activities, report to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment field about results of exploration reserves from that will evaluate the scale of factory construction related to the project to build a processing plant.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee suggested that reporting to the Provincial Standing Committee on the inclusion of the project in the provincial planning and land use plan for the next 5 years.
This is a large investment and the committee will continue to focus on the effectiveness of the project impact on the environment, social security issues, the regional people's life infrastructure to ensure security in the process for the people."
