The $12,000 is the cost of producing 1 tonne of nickel. Absolutely, nothing to do with the composition or cost of the 811 precursor.
Admittedly, $12,000 was flagged by SW some time ago (about 2 years). So add something for inflation. Let's say US$2,000 at a guess.
So taking 1 tonne of nickel from the mine and refining it will cost (estimate only) US$14,000.
The current nickel price per tonne is around US$17,000.
That looks like a profit to me before it even gets to the refinery.
